The Los Angeles Chargers entered the week with a litany of stars on their injury report, none more important than quarterback Justin Herbert.

Herbert has been dealing with a high ankle sprain since Week 2. The injury was aggravated during the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3, forcing Herbert to leave the game in the third quarter. He was listed as limited in practice leading up to the Chargers’ Week 4 game.

In his press conference on Friday, coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t give any clarification about what his status would be, but did say Herbert did “more” in Friday’s practice than previous days

“Listed as questionable, and we’ll see,” Harbaugh said. “That’s the best that I can do as far as predicting anything.”

But by Saturday afternoon, NFL insiders reported that Herbert would start Sunday’s game against the Chiefs.

Herbert also dealt with an injury to his plantar fascia heading into the season and missed four games last season due to a broken index finger on his throwing hand. The team lost all four games.

While the Herbert news is great news for the team, the Chargers offense will have to contend with the Chiefs defense without left tackle Rashawn Slater and with a hobbled right tackle, rookie Joe Alt. Alt did not practice this week dealing with a knee injury.

Outside linebacker Joey Bosa and linebacker Junior Colson have been ruled out. Wide receiver, Derius Davis and defensive backs, Deane Leonard, Kristian Fulton, and Ja’Sir Taylor are all listed as questionable.

Derwin James will also miss the game due to a suspension for a track record of violating player health and safety rules.
