NFL hits Packers RB Josh Jacobs with bizarre news he doesn't want to hear ahead of Vikings game

The NFL has been truly intense, to say the least, with fines for players. And the most recent player to suffer with that is Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs.

He was fined a crazy amount, $45,020, for a completely normal football play. He lowered his head, for sure, but the referees didn't even throw a flag on the play. And it's a real, significant fine.

It's understandable that the NFL wants to move in a direction where football is safer, and this type of play brings some risk to all players involved. But if it's not a flag, does it make sense to fine Jacobs that much money?

Every Saturday, the league announces a series of fines based on plays that happened in the previous weekend. The play that generated Jacobs' fine happened during the Packers' 30-14 win over the Tennesssee Titans last week in Nashville.

Jacobs signed with the Packers this offseason . He got a four-year, $48 million contract, with $12.5 million fully guaranteed at signing.

The fine is obviously a small amount compared to what he earns, but the decision-making process to fine players week after week for usual plays deserves some consideration by everyone involved.
