The new documentary “Will & Harper” showcases a road trip that Ferrell and Steele traveled on. They trekked the nation from New York to Los Angeles over a 16-day period. They got their groove on to some music, visited famous landmarks, and ate a lot of road trip-appropriate snacks. Anything goes when you’re driving that long. When the days got long, Will Ferrell would call injury lawyers who showcased their numbers on billboards. That premise alone is worth watching the Netflix documentary for.
Steele and Ferrell have been besties since 1995, when they both worked at SNL. They collaborated on comedies over the years and remained friends. Ferrell was one of many friends and loved ones that Harper came out to during 2020, showing the closeness of their relationship. What a special friendship. If the trans community is a threat to you, I think it stems from not being confident or safe with yourself.” He’s been very open about his lack of awareness about the trans community in America until very recently, so he is also thinking his way through why people react to trans people the way they do.
Will Ferrell also spoke about the impact that he has already heard from people, saying, “We’ve heard from people who say they can’t wait to see this with friends and family who maybe don’t share the same viewpoint, and they’re looking forward to watching it all together. Hopefully it could slowly chip away at some of that.” What a gift that Will Ferrell and Harper Steele are bringing to the people of America. We appreciate their efforts tremendously.
