Red Sox owners have reportedly 'shown no interest' in purchasing Celtics

The Boston Red Sox have won four World Series since John Henry and Fenway Sports Group bought the team from the Yawkey Trust in 2002.

Over the last 20 years, Fenway Sports Group has continued to add other teams and sports ventures to its portfolio.

In 2007, they purchased half of Roush Racing (forming Roush Fenway and eventually Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing). They then bought Liverpool F.C. in 2010 and the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2021. And, earlier this year, they struck a $3 billion deal with the PGA Tour.

So, when a majority stake of the Boston Celtics was announced to be for sale in recent months, it was a widely held belief that FSG would attempt to purchase the NBA team coming off of their 18th championship.

However, according to Audacy's Rob Bradford , FSG "has shown no interest and made no contact regarding potential purchase of the Celtics.

This is great news for both Red Sox and Celtics fans, as an investment in another team likely would've limited their spending on the baseball team even more. And, considering how they've behaved recently, the Celtics may have moved on from some of their talented players and ruined their chance of repeating or hoisting banner No. 19 in the near future.

Good. They'd ruin the Celtics too.
