Kirk Herbstreit played quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 1989 to 1992 and has since gone on to become one of the most well known and respected commentators in college football history.

The College Gameday host took up residence in the broadcast booth for the Alabama football vs. Georgia football game on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the CFB Game Of The Week.

New Alabama Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer matched wits with two-time national champion Kirby Smart of the Bulldogs as Alabama got the upper hand with a devastating offensive attack, led by star quarterback Jalen Milroe and the Tide's new offensive coordinator.

Alabama took a shocking 21-0 lead on Georgia football as the first quarter wound down in the Yellowhammer State on a seven-yard touchdown run by Germie Bernard.

Herbstreit gave credit to a key member of Coach Kalen DeBeor's coaching staff, a man with deep ties to the NFL and Michigan football.

"Nick Sheridan, give him a ton of credit, first-year play caller here in Tuscaloosa doing a great job of mixing it up as (sideline reporter) Holly (Rowe) said," Herbstreit said about the former Michigan walk-on, starting quarterback and son of former NFL defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan.

"Just the pre-snap movement, formations, attacking outside with quick throws, jet sweeps, running with (quarterback Jalen) Milroe to the outside," the Centerville, Ohio native continued.

"They're pounding the middle (and) setting up quick throws."

Alabama football seized a commanding 28-0 lead early in the second quarter as DeBoer's team made life incredibly difficult on the team they beat in 2023-2024's SEC Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA.

Georgia scored their first touchdown of the game on a run by Trevor Etienne to make it 28-7 heading down the stretch of the first half in Tuscaloosa, AL.
