Virginia Days of Our Lives fans Drake Hogestyn, who portrayed John Black, has passed away at 70 from pancreatic cancer. Soap Opera Digest says the family gave the following statement.

He was the most amazing husband, father, papa, and actor. He loved performing for the day audience and sharing the stage with the business's incredible cast, crew, and production team. We love him and will miss him all the Days of our Lives.”

Fans noticed he looked different

Some Virginia fans had commented that the actor seemed to not quite look like himself in recent episodes and as if he had lost a little weight. There also were articles questioning whether he was ill but no one was expecting this shocking news.

Drake Hogestyn joined the Days of Our Lives cast in January 1986. In addition to John Black, he has portrayed The Pawn, Father John, and Roman Brady and discovered he was an Alamain.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria, their four children, Rachael, Ben, Whitney, and Alexandra, their partners, and seven grandchildren. Condolences to the Hogestyn family, the DOOL cast, and the legions of fans. This one hit hard.
