MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County celebrated its life-saving work Saturday night.

Saturday’s Paw Prints Party was the Humane Society’s largest fundraiser, hosted at its shelter. Executive Director Ellen Zahariadis explained what she was most excited about for the event.

“Personally, I just love to see all of the people come out, the people that are volunteers who are here every day, walking dogs in the rain,” Zahariadis said. “They are here, cleaning cat cages, and loving the cats and to see our supporters because they get to see firsthand the work that we were able to do because of their dedication and because of their support.“

Since 1933, the Humane Society has rescued, rehabilitated, and found loving homes for thousands of injured and abused animals. They even provide surgeries for injured animals.

As far as the humane Societies adoption success, there’s Raspberry, a 9-year-old resident who just found a new home after a nine-month wait.

“Raspberry was a great old cat and he finally got adopted,” she said. “He’s a sweetheart, but he needed some little extra care to kind of come out of his shell, but it’s so wonderful that he has a forever home now.”

If you missed Saturday’s Paw Prints Party, you can still make a difference by donating to the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County .
