Florida State football benched DJ Uiagalelei in the fourth quarter at SMU , replacing him with Brock Glenn.

Uiagalelei went 12-of-30, throwing for 222 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions, including one pick-six. He was benched with FSU trailing 42-16.

He started the game five-of-six for 96 yards and a touchdown and looked arguably the best he had all season for the Seminoles . However, a third-down throw on the run resulted in an interception, and he went flat following that play, completing just seven passes and throwing two interceptions.

He did not complete a pass in the fourth quarter.

Uiagalelei was nursing a finger injury he sustained in the second quarter, however, he continued to play until the fourth before being replaced by Glenn.

Glenn finished the game vs. SMU without a completion on four attempts.

The Seminoles lost 42-16 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Following the game FSU head coach Mike Norvell said that he planned to make the change regardless of the interception.

"I mean, in all reality, DJ on the last hit, obviously something with his hand. His hand got hit as it was going through, we’ll see where that’s at," Norvell said. "But in all reality, I was going to make a change anyway to give Brock an opportunity."

Heading into the SMU matchup, Uiagalelei had gone 72-of-126 for 848 yards this season, throwing two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Glenn had not played since the Seminoles' 63-3 loss to Georgia in the Orange Bowl. In that game, he went 9-for-26, for 139 yards and two interceptions.

Finally. I really hope Coach Norvell sticks with Brock and gives him an honest chance to develop. This season is over, let’s see what we have for next year. Other young players are responding.

Norvell has been exposed as a high school coach at best.
