What’s the deal behind the new hit reality show, ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives?’ There’s a couple of young, attractive Mormon moms in the same social circle that danced primarily. Of course, real life sneaked in at times, but even then, most of the ladies portrayed their lives, kids, and marriages as perfect. Except for Ms. Whitney Leavitt, who broke the internet when she was dancing next to her baby, who was receiving oxygen in a hospital crib after a RSV diagnosis.

The drama that kicked off the show was when Taylor Frankie Paul, queen of #MomTok, went public, saying that she and her husband were getting divorced. She didn’t provide more detail at the time because she knew the wave of drama was about to roll in. However, getting unfollowed by other members of #MomTok and having the ladies like catty social media messages accusing Taylor Frankie Paul of cheating inspired Paul to get honest.

Paul responded with livestreams that revealed ‘soft-swinging’ was taking place between her and other friends. Some of which are also on #MomTok. However, she revealed that she broke the rules that took her from swinging to cheating in the eyes of her husband. Many members of the dance group rushed to the internet to let us know that they weren’t swinging.

All while some members of the group have OnlyFans accounts (Miranda McWhorter) and have husbands on Tinder (Ms. Whitney Leavitt again), but we digress. Ethical non-monogamy and sex work are completely valid life choices, but the ladies can drop their holier than thou vibe anytime. This is the hot mess drama that kicked off the reality show we now know and love.

Whitney Leavitt – Take It Or Leave It?

Whitney Leavitt is one of the most controversial members of the reality TV show cast. Her portrayal on season one screamed villain, but was it all editing? The truth is likely somewhere in the middle. You can’t get a bad edit if you don’t do problematic things. However, it can make a person look one-dimensional if they never show another side. Leavitt provided lots of negative things to film, meaning she is at least partially a villain.

When discussing her editing with The Cut, she came off as honest. She said, “No one can make you do something or say something on the show; these were choices that I willingly made. As far as leaning into this quote-unquote villain era, I mean, yeah, I didn’t love what I watched of myself either.” She went wrong when she continued in The Cut interview, saying, “I didn’t realize I was the villain until I saw the edit, which I didn’t love, but, hey, that’s what happened, so I guess I stand by it.” Whitney Leavitt then peppered in the obligatory excuse that they left out positive edits.

Somehow Ms. Whitney Leavitt is always the victim, and everything is about her, even when she hurts people and is aware of it. Stating that Taylor Frankie Paul was forgiven more easily for her ‘soft-swinging’ drama than Leavitt’s RSV video felt self-centered. Don’t tell this lady anything either; she will whip out any secret when she feels the heat in a confrontation (the fruity pebbles and the trash comment).

Her passive, aggressive decision to leave the #MomTok group chat felt like an attention grab. Whitney Leavitt being upset that no one checked in with her after further seems to verify that. No one is saying that Ms. Whitney is a bad person, but the villain seemingly fits her character multiple times throughout the season. What do you think?
