The Alabama Crimson Tide had their way with the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night in the first half, before far too close of a call in the game of the year in college football thus far.

Well, after the first half alone, it was clear that Jalen Milroe was finally going to take pole position in the Heisman Trophy race.

    And that he did:

It didn't even take all of the first half, but just two drives for Milroe to overtake Miami's Cam Ward as the frontrunner for the 2024 Heisman Trophy per FanDuel Sportsbook . After the first half alone, Milroe accounted for the following through the air:

    18 of 21 passing (85.7%) for 199 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

How about on the ground? 9 carries, 106 yards (11.8 avg.), 2 TDs.

Cleary the most dynamic dual threat in all of the country, all you needed to hear was Kirby Smart's halftime bit with ESPN to know that Milroe was on another level in Tuscaloosa on Saturday:

"The most important thing is we have to get some stops. Alabama has been really explosive tonight. We've had no answer Milroe. He is a great athlete a phenomenal athlete. We've struggled to tackle him, and we don't have the edges. They have done a really good job of throwing with him out of empty [formation], and that's been new."

While Milroe is the star of the night, and rightfully so, it's the last sentence that should catch the ear of Tide fans. When Kirby Smart said "And that's been new," as he referred to Jalen Milroe working out of empty shotgun formations, it shone a light on the other stars of the night:

    Alabama's coaching staff.

When HC Kalen DeBoer said the offense wasn't close to being full throttle after the Wisconsin game, he meant it. And while it was an impressive showing against the Bulldogs, it leaves you enticed to see what's to come from both Milroe and DeBoer.

“Because I think more about what direction our offense continues to evolve, you know, our understanding, our personnel, and you have an idea through spring ball and fall camp where still things are, but when you get into a game, that really, you know, grow and evolve with your offense, and think that that's probably the biggest thing, said DeBoer. "You know, there's going to be a lot of our offense that we never install this year, just because of the players that we have."

Well, after Saturday's performance (even if it came with some scares), it's safe to say that whatever portion of the offense did get installed this year, its working wonders for both Alabama and Jalen Milroe.
