Week 5 of the 2024 college football season capped off with one of the best games of the year, as the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide defeated No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs 41-34 with former coach Nick Saban in attendance.

Under new head coach Kalen DeBoer, Alabama led by as much as 28 points before Georgia stormed back in the fourth quarter to take a 34-33 lead.

The Bulldogs got there on a roller coaster exchange that saw quarterback Carson Beck, down five, throw to wide receiver Dillon Bell for a 67-yard touchdown with 2:31 left in the game but failed the two-point attempt, leaving them with 34 points.

The Crimson Tide then responded on the very next play with a pass from Jalen Milroe to freshman phenom Ryan Williams, who juked his way to a 75-yard score, retaking the lead. Alabama went for two and succeeded, making it a seven-point game.

On Georgia's final possession, Beck threw an interception in the endzone, allowing Alabama to kneel the clock out and secure the win.

After the game, fans were quick to point out that Saban would have never allowed Georgia to come back from 28 points down. The largest comeback Saban allowed was seven points on a couple of occasions. During his 17-year tenure, the 72-year-old went 8-2 against the Bulldogs.

These fans took to social media to leave their comments.

"Nick Saban Would’ve Never Let That Comeback Happen," one fan said.

"No way Bama does this at home under Saban. Incredible collapse and a phenomenal comeback by Georgia what a game!!"

"Nick Saban would of never let this type of comeback happen"

"Nick Saban would have never allowed a lead that big to collapse. I can’t believe Georgia has comeback against Alabama"

"Can you even imagine Nick Saban's Alabama blowing a 28-0 lead at home?"

"Nick Saban would never have given up a 28-0 lead"

Saban finished his coaching career with seven national championships, six with Alabama and one with the LSU Tigers. He also won 11 SEC titles, nine of which came with the Crimson Tide. His 292 career wins rank sixth all-time, and his 206 with Bama rank second in school history behind Bear Bryant (232). But Saban one-upped Bryant in national championships.

Despite the amount of wins Saban has over Georgia, his 80% win percentage with Bama against the Bulldogs does, in fact, now ranked lower than DeBoer's 100%.
