Jelly Roll Helps Kick Off Season 50 of ‘Saturday Night Live’ as Fans Share Their Frustration Over Rescheduled Concert

Tonight marked a massive milestone for Saturday Night Live as the show celebrated the premiere of season 50. Looking back on the history of SNL and Lorne Michaels, the showrunner promised a spectacular season that would focus on the decades of laughs the series produced. And with the premiere such a big moment, SNL decided to welcome Jean Smart and country singer Jelly Roll to the stage. Featuring several hilarious skits, the night wouldn’t be complete without Jelly Roll showcasing his talents at Studio 8H. But while the country singer was thrilled to be part of the celebration, many of his fans were frustrated over the singer having to reschedule his upcoming concert.

Just last week, Jelly Roll shared the news on Instagram that he would be appearing on SNL during the season premiere with Smart. At the time, he wrote, “The premiere of the 50th season of SNL. BRB going to cry for a few hours and call every family member I have. Bringing therapeutic music to my favorite show ever. God is Good.” Always spreading love, Jelly Roll appeared all smiles as he took the stage to perform his hit song “Liar.”

Commanding the stage with a team of backup singers, fans loved the performance, writing, “Oh Jelly…preach brother because this world needs you!!!” Another comment read, “Jelly Roll did it again!!! Got goosebumps listening to this song!!! Love It!!”

Fans Demand Answers From Jelly Roll Over Rescheduled Concert

Although loving his time at SNL, Jelly Roll caused a great deal of backlash from fans for his appearance. Before announcing his guest spot, the singer prepared to perform at the UBS arena on September 28th. But with his performance on SNL happening the same night, the singer decided to move the concert to Monday.

While not canceling the concert, the sudden shift of dates led to comments like, “I was taking my niece to UBS so you ditch your fans for SNL?? What am I supposed to tell my niece now she was so looking forward to it too…..” That was just the start as another person insisted, “This just screwed me and a lot of other fans…as a single mom going to a concert on Saturday is great…NOT on a Monday. Please do better next time.” One fan even demanded a response from the country singer, “You want to address all of your fans you’re blatantly screwing over or……?”

Not gaining much praise from fans, Jelly Roll once again dominated the stage and set the standard for the rest of season 50 of SNL.
