Recent inspections by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation have discovered food safety violations at several Lake County restaurants. State records revealed that over the past 30 days, 124 restaurants underwent inspections, with 18 failing their initial review. The good news was that 106 passed on their first visit.

Lake County Restaurant Inspections Reveal Violations

New Chinese Buffet in Clermont topped the list with 48 violations during a September 20 inspection. A follow-up visit on September 23 still found 21 infractions, leading to an extension for corrective action. Other restaurants with high violation counts included The Brick & Barrel Kitchen + Bar, with 25 violations, La Jibarita De Puerto Rico, cited for 23 violations, Gators Dockside, found with 23 violations, and City Star Diner, cited for 22 violations.

Lake County, with an estimated population of 424,462 according to the United States Census Bureau 2023 data, has many residents and visitors who dine out regularly. Staying informed about restaurant inspection results helps consumers make educated choices.

Seven other Lake County restaurants were cited for 20 or more violations during this period, requiring additional inspections.
