Sunday is National Coffee Day! See deals, freebies from Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and more

National Coffee Day is Sunday, Sept. 29, and we're expresso-ly excited for it!

To help coffee lovers celebrate the special day, coffee shops, fast-food establishments, convenience stores and other places known for coffee are perking up with freebies, discounts or deals.

The Fall 2024 National Coffee Data Trends (NCDT) analysis found out-of-home coffee consumption reached its highest peak since January 2020 . However, 81% of past-day coffee drinkers have coffee at home, while 36% get coffee outside of their home. There is overlap for those who drink coffee both inside and outside their homes.

Most Americans (51%) believe coffee is good for their health; the analysis also revealed that 66% think coffee improves mental focus, while 46% believe it improves physical endurance. Nearly half (48%) reported hearing about the health benefits of drinking coffee in the past year.

With this data, it may not come as a surprise that American adults drink over 400 million cups of coffee per day , according to the National Coffee Association. The 2024 trends report shows the average coffee-drinking American has 2.5 cups of coffee per day .

Here are some other key findings by the National Coffee Association:

• While 61% of Americans choose traditional coffee, 56% turn to specialty coffees like lattes, espressos and cappuccinos.
• 24% of past-day coffee cups were served cold, up 60% from winter 2023.
• It's no surprise that 84% of Americans have coffee with breakfast. A huge 76% say coffee wakes them up and gets them going.

When is National Coffee Day 2024?

The special day is on Sept. 29 every year, and in 2024 it happens to fall on a Sunday . And if you're not one to caffeinate over weekends, no worries — International Coffee Day is Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Next year, another coffee celebration is coming to Texas: The 2025 National Coffee Association Convention will be in Houston on March 6-8.

National Coffee Day 2024 deals

Starbucks

From 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Starbucks is partnering with music duo Sofi Tukker to host a special Twitch livestream DJ set, “At Home with Sofi Tukker,” to inspire and connect loved ones over coffee and music. Starbucks also offers $10 off eligible Starbucks coffee at-home products on Amazon with every $50 purchase while supplies last through Sunday.

Dunkin' Donuts

Nationwide chain Dunkin’ offers a free hot or iced coffee with any purchase for its Dunkin' Rewards members. Limit one per member.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

All guests receive a medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase. In addition to the free coffee, Krispy Kreme is adding a sweet offer of $2 for a dozen of its original glazed doughnuts with the purchase of any dozen. The offer is available in stores, drive-thru and for pickup or delivery at krispykreme.com or through its mobile app using promo codes COFFEE and BOGO2 while supplies last.

Scooter's Coffee

Customers who order ahead or pay with the app on Sept. 29 and 30 will get a free any-size hot or iced coffee. The first 25 customers at each participating location will also receive a free limited-edition mug.

Circle K

A free medium iced or hot coffee can be redeemed via the Circle K app from Sept. 26 through Oct. 2.

Pilot Flying J

Free, any-size hot, iced or cold-brewed coffee will be available all day on National Coffee Day. Redeem the free coffee through the myRewards Plus app at participating Pilot and Flying J travel centers. Pilot's new coffee fall flavors include Bourbon Pecan hot coffee, Cinnamon Roll cold brew and Cinnamon Pumpkin Spice cappuccino.

Whataburger

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 29, all guests will receive a free 16-ounce iced coffee or 12-ounce hot coffee. No purchase necessary.

La Madeleine

Beginning Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, customers can get a free drip coffee with any purchase in-store or online.

Shipley Do-Nuts

Rewards members who order coffee through the chain's app on National Coffee Day will receive a free glazed donut.

Kolache Factory

Customers can snag a coupon from Kolache Factory's social media on Sept. 29, good for a free 12-ounce coffee. The deal is only available in-store.

Paris Baguette

PB Rewards members get a free medium hot or iced brewed coffee with purchase Friday-Sunday brewed with Lavazza coffee.

Tim Hortons

Tim's Reward members receive a free medium hot or iced coffee Friday-Sunday with any purchase. The offer is valid at participating locations and can be redeemed once.
