Good morning everyone. Gloomy conditions in the Northeast continue as atmospheric gridlock persist due to a virtual "omega block" between high pressure and our low pressure system.

This means we have another day of coastal drizzle and very cool temps. Some sunshine and 70's try to return tomorrow, then more showers are expected on Tuesday. Things will finally clear out on Wednesday, and we should have a fairly nice rest of the workweek.

The Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Southeast remain problematic, with afternoon sun working the atmosphere, and creating just enough instability for some scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms across parts of Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. While we don't expect anything severe, we could see some heavy rain, small hail, and gusty winds in areas that simply don't need it right now.

Aside from the tropics and prospects in the Gulf of Mexico late this week, we're also keeping an eye on a possible late-season heatwave in parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Starting late in the week into early to mid next week, we could see temps soaring back into the 90's for a decent stretch. In some cases, 100 degree temps could reemerge across parts of Texas as well.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

For today, clouds and drizzle/showers stick around the NYC area. Highs will be held down to well below average, with low 60's in many areas.

We could see a few patches of blue return tomorrow as we try and dry out, and that could help get us back into the low 70's. However, clouds return on Tuesday with the chance of a few showers again. Highs will be in the 65-70 range.

Look for decreasing clouds on Wednesday with low 70's, then mid 70's possible on Thursday and Friday with some extra sunshine.
