Showing up for the home town. Hurricane Helene is wreaking havoc across the southeast after making landfall on the Gulf coast of Florida a couple days ago. And while the devastation in the Sunshine State is catastrophic, western North Carolina has been hit with flooding like the region has never seen before. Over 6o death across 5 states have been reported so far, millions are without power and we're already looking at billions of dollars in damage. Communications have been decimated, hundreds of roads have been closed and many people are still unaccounted for... it's truly devastating. Flooding like this has happened in that part of North Carolina since 1916, and this is expected to be worse. https://twitter.com/JordanKudisch/status/1840387585778061396 An Asheville-area Wendy's is nearly completely submerged: https://twitter.com/accuweather/status/1840096482432516538 But country music's own Luke Combs, an Asheville native himself, is stepping up to help. It's unclear right no exactly how he plans to help, perhaps some kind of benefit concert or fundraiser is on the way, but nevertheless, the people of the area are in desperate need of it. Props to Luke for stepping up, although, I would expect nothing less:
"Absolutely heartbroken for everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene. Especially my folks in Western North Carolina. Me and my team have been making some calls and I think we’ve got something really special lined up to help the Carolinas as much as we can. More details to come ASAP." Stay tuned for more details, we'll update as they become available. https://twitter.com/lukecombs/status/1840098020622311650
