“Sounds Like Ariana Grande”: ‘The Voice’ Performer Has Gwen Stefani and Michael Bublé on the Brink of Turning Their Chairs

We’re only one episode deep into season 26 of The Voice, and newcomer coach Snoop Dogg has already cried. With only champion Reba McEntire returning from season 25, this year’s lineup promises an entirely new dynamic. We’ve already seen some stellar performances from this year’s batch of hopefuls. Recently, The Voice shared a preview from the second round of Blind Auditions that features a flawless rendition of the timeless soul hit “Some Kind of Wonderful.” Fans in comments of the video pointed out that the singer “sounds like Ariana Grande.” But who will turn their chair?

Michael Buble Sings Along To ‘The Voice’ Contestant’s Performance

This particular promo for The Voice is from the coaches’ perspective, so we don’t see the contestant’s face. We only hear a rich, melodic voice singing the opening verse:

    I don’t need a whole lot of money /

I don’t need a big fine car / I got everything that a man could want / I got more than I could ask for

    .

Coaches Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani can’t resist grooving to the beat in their chairs. None is going harder than Buble, however.

“I love this song,” the “Feeling Good” crooner says to Stefani, singing along to the 1967 hit.

    “Pretty voice,” Stefani replies.

Both Buble and the “Hollaback Girl” singer seem to be seriously considering pressing their red button and spinning their chairs around, signaling they want this artist on their team. However, the promo ends before we see their decision. So we’ll all be tuning into NBC on Monday (Sept. 30) at 8 p.m. Eastern to discover the contestant’s identity, along with their fate on the show.

There’s a New Rule This Season

First airing in 2011, The Voice has kept things fresh throughout its 26-season run. The Sept. 23 season premiere introduced a brand-new twist: the Coach Replay button.

Essentially, if a coach doesn’t turn their chair during an artist’s Blind Audition, they could still have an opportunity to snag them for their team. After the performance ends, all chairs turn to meet the artist. If a coach who didn’t originally turn feels moved by their story, they can hit the Coach Replay button to enter the mix.

The Voice coaches have only one Replay button each during the Blind Auditions. Reba McEntire used hers during last week’s premiere.
