Jimmy Buffett’s Iconic Cheeseburger in Paradise Recipe Isn’t Just For Parrotheads
8 hours ago
Imagine this: Jimmy Buffett strumming his guitar on a sunny island, the waves lapping at the shore, a margarita in hand. You might picture him singing about boats, beach vibes, and lost shakers of salt. But, casseroles? Who knew the legendary singer-songwriter loved a good old-fashioned casserole like the rest of us!?! Well, apparently, he did—and when I heard about his Cheeseburger in Paradise casserole recipe, I knew I had to give it a whirl, especially since my dad is a huge fan of the late, legendary Buffett.
Not only is this recipe quick, easy, and full of flavor, but it's also budget-friendly—perfect for those looking to bring a little taste of paradise to the dinner table without breaking the bank. Pair this cheesy, beefy goodness with a simple side salad and some crusty bread, and you've got yourself a dinner that’ll have you humming "Margaritaville" in no time.
Recipe Notes & Pro Tips:
- This makes a large casserole: The recipe fills a 9x13-inch dish, but you can split it in half and use two 9-inch pie plates. Bonus: freeze one for later—it makes a fabulous freezer meal for those nights when you need a little island escape but don't have time to cook.
- Freshly shredded cheddar cheese is a must: Skip the pre-shredded stuff! When you shred your own cheese, it melts better and has none of those weird anti-caking agents. Plus, it's fresher and packs more flavor.
- Add a little spice: If you like a kick, toss in some jalapeños (fresh or pickled) or a sprinkle of cracked red pepper flakes. It'll turn your cheeseburger paradise into a spicy fiesta!
- Top it off: Feel free to go wild with toppings—extra cheese, sour cream, pickles, maybe even some diced tomatoes and shredded lettuce. It’s like dressing up your cheeseburger any way you want, but in casserole form.
Trust me, after one bite of this, you’ll be dreaming of cheeseburgers in paradise, and maybe even craving another margarita!
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Using a 9x13 inch casserole dish (or two 9-inch pie plates), coat with nonstick cooking spray. Set to the side.
In a large skillet, add your ground beef and chopped onions. Cook your burger until it is no longer pink and the onions have softened. If your ground beef has a lot of fat, drain any excess. Add your granulated garlic, onion powder, seasoned salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to mix everything together.
Add your ground beef to your prepared baking dish(es). Make sure your burger is in an even layer.
Next, place your shredded cheese on top of your burger.
In a medium-sized bowl, add your eggs and lightly whisk. Add your milk and mix it with your eggs. Next, add in your bisquick and whisk to remove any lumps. Strive to achieve a smooth consistency in your mixture.
Pour the egg mixture over the burger and cheese. Place your casserole in the oven and bake until your knife comes out clean; it should take around 35-40 minutes. Begin checking your casserole at the 25-minute mark.
Remove from the oven and serve with, of course, a margarita!
