The seat of Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni appears to be getting warmer.

Sirianni's time as Philadelphia's lead man has been complete with highs and lows, but things have consistently gotten worse since the franchise fell a few plays shy of a victory in Super Bowl 57. The Eagles started the 2023 season with a 10-1 record but lost five of their final six games before getting blown out by the Buccaneers in the wild-card round.

After rumblings that Sirianni had lost the locker room at the end of the 2023 season, he returned to his post in 2024. And while the Eagles got out to a 2-1 start to the season, Sirianni's coaching decisions were scrutinized, setting up a crucial Week 4 playoff rematch against Tampa Bay.

Philadelphia's performance left plenty to be desired as it fell into a 24-0 hole in the first half before scoring a touchdown to stop the bleeding late in the second quarter. Ultimately, it wasn't enough, as the Eagles fell 33-16. Fans are again wondering whether or not Sirianni's job is secure.

    Will Eagles fire Nick Sirianni?

Sirianni's job security appears to be dwindling, as Philadelphia did not appear prepared for its Week 4 matchup with Tampa Bay. Making matters worse are the high expectations in Phadelphia's pressured-packed media bubble.

The Eagles were out-schemed and outplayed by the Buccaneers, who fired on all cylinders throughout the first half of the game. Eagles fans and pundits throughout social media continued to speculate whether Sirianni's job would last through the 2024 season.

Potentially justifying Philadelphia's poor performance are key injuries to star wide receivers DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, both of whom were inactive against the Buccaneers.

Without two key offensive weapons, the Eagles' passing offense sputtered, resulting in the need to overcome a big deficit in the second half. Those issues with the passing offense fold into larger concerns around the regression of QB Jalen Hurts, who has been plagued by turnovers (four INTs, three lost fumbles) amid constant pressure (13 sacks) and subpar play that has coincided with Philadelphia's downward spiral.

Through four games, Hurts has four touchdowns and four interceptions, numbers unbecoming of a QB that a franchise would pledge $255 million to .

With a bye ahead in Week 5, the Eagles will have a chance to get healthy and regroup, but Sirianni can't afford many more losses — especially losses like Week 4's no-show vs. Tampa — and expect to be employed much longer.

What is Nick Sirianni's record with the Eagles?

Sirianni is in his fourth season as Philadelphia's head coach. The Eagles are 36-19 under Sirianni's leadership.

Philadelphia advanced to the playoffs in each of Sirianni's first three seasons as head coach. In his second season, Sirianni led the Eagles to a 14-3 record and an NFC title before ta 38-35 loss in the Super Bowl.

Since a 10-1 start to the 2023 season, the Eagles are 3-8, including their loss in the 2023 NFC wild-card game.

2022 14-3 Lost in Super Bowl
