The Oklahoma Sooners did the unthinkable against the Auburn Tigers to get their first-ever SEC win. They were down by 11 to start the fourth quarter, with about as little probability to win as you can get and ended up winning by six points.

Of course, the offense finally showed up, specifically on the final two drives. Michael Hawkins Jr. had a few great moments, including a deep pass to J.J. Hester down the sideline, just when media and analysts were saying Hawkins couldn't throw the ball. And then he had the flying two-point conversion.

But, I don't think it's possible to talk too much about what the defense did. There were so many things that went right for them. The game didn't start great for the defense, and it was starting to look like this would be the first game that the Sooners' defense would get outplayed.

But, they showed up. Kip Lewis had a pick-six, which left head coach Brent Venables with just a few words to say regarding how amazing of a play it was.

But the thing that really sealed the game, was the defense stepping up on the last two drives, and sacking Peyton Thorne over and over again. R Mason Thomas had two sacks on that drive alone, and man, they were nice. Of course, Robert Spears-Jennings had the sack too where Venables sent him to blitz.

But the biggest plays were the R Mason Thomas sacks , where he just found a way to turn it to a different level when the fourth quarter came. And, Venables called his shot on one of them, where he knew Thomas was going to get the sack.

"He has a very instinctive explosive get-off & he's playing with a lot of confidence," Venables said after the game. "He's playing his best ball right now. That was huge. I was watching his last sack. When the ball was snapped, I said 'We got him.'"

R Mason Thomas has already won an SEC Defensive Player of the Week Award this season for the same type of plays he made against the Tigers. He's legit, and he always finds a way to come through when the team needs it most.
