There will be a scavenger hunt for kids along with an area dedicated for them to stretch and play, along with a baby changing tent.A food drive will be collecting boxed and canned goods for local food pantries.The market is a one-day event with general admission open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $5 a person. Early Bird ticket holders get in at 9 a.m. and receive a wristband for exclusive discounts with 25 or more of the vendors at a price of $10 per ticket. Parking is free.All ticket information and event details can be found on the website at:***Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park will hold its annual Blennerhassett Island Mansion by Candlelight on Oct. 11 and 12 at the island near Parkersburg.Visitors will board the Island Belle sternwheeler at Civitan Park in Belpre to begin a journey to Blennerhassett Island and a glimpse of the world of Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett as it existed over 200 years ago.Transformed into an 18th Century party, Blennerhassett Island and its mansion will be illuminated by hundreds of candles and lantern boxes. Docents, dressed in the style of the period, will welcome visitors and there will be period music and dancing, a game of cards and the chance to stroll outside for the planned activities on the island.Those activities will include a horse-drawn wagon ride, the gift shop, and a bonfire at the servants’ party with Appalachian music, clogging, apple butter making and haunting stories of local folklore.A special candlelight “harvest supper” (picnic style meal) will be available. It will feature apple rosemary roasted turkey, southern sage and celery dressing, whipped potatoes with roasted turkey gravy, sauteed green beans, green garden salad with buttermilk ranch or house Italian, dinner rolls and whipped butter, and assorted pies. Beverages will include coffee, tea and water.The Harvest Supper will be offered on both evenings with advance reservations. The ticket includes round-trip boat ride, horse-drawn wagon ride and Mansion by Candlelight.The Harvest Supper is $20 for adults and $10 for children.***Saturday, Oct. 12, will bring two special events to downtown Parkersburg through the Parkersburg Art Center.The 700 and 800 blocks of Market Street will feature the Chalk the Block chalk art competition from 1-5 p.m. followed by ArtOberfest from 5-9 p.m.For the chalk art competition, artists will work on the 800 block of Market Street to create temporary works of art directly on the sidewalk. Music will be provided by DJ Casey Powell and additional artful entertainment by the crew from ArtBeat Studio.The eighth annual ArtOberfest will feature artists filling the block in front of the art center with unique and hand-crafted items for shoppers. Musical entertainment for the evening includes performances by Moonking, Sour Mash String Band and the Debarr/Stevens Trio.There will also be food and drink from WineDown on Market, Parkersburg Brewing Company, DJs Sweet Creations and local food trucks.The art center and its PAC713 Market gift shop will also be open all evening so guests can enjoy the gallery exhibit by WV Allied Artists. There will also be an area set up as a Lego Building station for kids of all ages inside the art center.Both art-centered events are free, but donations will be accepted at the entrance and funds go to purport PAC arts outreach programs and help the PAC grow the senior arts studio.In the event of rain, ArtOberfest will be moved indoors at the art center, while Chalk the Block will be rescheduled.***Downtown PKB will hold its annual Monster Mash family event from 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 18 at Point Park in downtown Parkersburg.Monster Mash is a family-centric Halloween party made possible by Downtown PKB and local businesses and community organizations who set up to be vendors for the event.Children will experience hands-on activities and trick-or-treat giveaways provided by local businesses and community organizations. A DJ will be on-site playing kid-friendly music. Halloween costumes are encouraged and the event is free to attend.***Friends of Vienna will hold its inaugural “Glow on the O” on Oct. 19 at Spencer’s Landing next to the Ohio River.The event will begin at 3 p.m. and go until dusk. There will be food trucks, inflatables and a pumpkin carving contest.The main focus of the event will be a group of illuminated hot air balloons that will rise into the air and illuminate the area on the bank of the Ohio River. The balloon pilots will arrive at 5:30 p.m., the balloons will begin being inflated and stand up at 6 p.m. with the flight at dusk.***The 13th annual Christmas Craft Expo will be 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 19 at City Park in Parkersburg.Admission is free and there will be food, vendors, handmade crafts and other attractions.***The 45th annual Warren Band Boosters Fall Arts and Crafts Fair will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 2 at Warren Local High School in Vincent, Ohio. Admission will be $5 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens and free for children 5 and under.There will be over 130 talented crafters, including home decor, clothing, children’s items, Christmas items, she shed/man cave decor, kitchen items and more.***As the end of November approaches, more Christmas holiday activities will begin, with holiday light displays going up in Parkersburg’s City Park, throughout Belpre and other communities.The first Saturday in December traditionally features several holiday-themed activities, beginning with the Vienna Holly Days Parade at 11 a.m. Dec. 7, followed by the Parkersburg Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. in downtown Parkersburg.Following the parades, Downtown PKB’s Winterfest will be 4:30-6 p.m. Dec. 7 at Bicentennial Park in downtown Parkersburg.The event is free and open to the public.
