New Florida Locations Of "Iconic" New York Bagel Chain Is Identified: "Tons of New Yorkers"

Former New Yorkers living in Boca Raton, Jacksonville, Tampa, West Palm Beach or residents who love New York bagels may be happy to know that they're getting a location of "iconic" New York Bagel Chain H&H bagels.

Some might have some skepticism, however. I have written about restaurants, like Jeff's Bagel Run that have brought New York-style bagels to Florida but some readers have commented that New York bagels are impossible because of Florida's water. However, H&H bagels will be using New York water in its Florida bagels (since the bagels are pre-made in New York.)

Why H&H Bagels Is "Iconic:" The Tampa Business Journal calls H&H Bagels "iconic," and there are some concrete reasons for this.

H&H is a well-known company that was founded in New York City in the early 1970s. From the very beginning, they have used what is known as the artisanal water bagel method for their bagels. Specifically, H&H Bagels are proofed, kettle-boiled, and bathed in cold water. At the very end of the process, they are oven-baked. (The company is a pop culture favorite as it has been featured on media like the Seinfeld TV show.)

Of H&H, Manhatten Digest writer Brad Johnson has written, in part:

"I’m probably 5-10 pounds heavier from devouring every kind of bagel they provided me. From egg to plain, cinnamon raisin to everything, H&H Bagels is what NYC is all about."

The New Identified Florida Locations: Florida's first H&H location will be in Boca Raton (2200 Glades Road.) However, additional stores are also planned for Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale.

And in mid-September, it was reported that the first Jacksonville location would be at the Shoppes of Aberdeen at 3735 Longleaf Pine Parkway.

CEO Jay Rushin told the Jacksonville Business Journal why Jacksonville was so appealing to the brand:

“I think quite a few people recognize the hole in the marketplace down there. And there's tons of New Yorkers that gravitated down there over the years. Driving around with the Jacksonville group and real estate brokers, it was like, that area is already committed for 5,000 homes, and right there, that's another 5,000 homes…”
