Complaint: Suspect in homicide allegedly pinned victim against freeway wall

An interim complaint from a homicide in which a man allegedly pinned the victim against a wall on Tucson's north side over the weekend, sheds more light on what possibly happened.

According to the complaint, Eric Schumeister was backing out of his driveway, when he began arguing with the victim, who was walking north on Contzen Avenue.

The victim walked north toward a nearby dirt lot at West Williams Street and North Contzen Avenue where there were several other people.

Schumeister pulled up to the lot, stopped and stared, the complaint said. The victim raised his hands to signal "what's up," the complaint said.

Schumeister yelled at the victim, stating that it was his neighborhood. The victim said he could walk where he wanted, the complaint said.

Schumeister positioned his truck, pointing at the victim and "gunning" it onto the dirt lot, the complaint said. Schumeister struck the victim and pinned him against a freeway ramp wall, the complaint said.

Schumeister backed up his truck, then "smeared" the victim against the wall, according to a witness, causing extreme injuries, the complaint said.

Schumeister spoke to one of the witnesses before fleeing in the truck east, then south, the complaint said. The witness saw Schumeister pulling his truck back into his residence and fleeing inside.

The truck had damage on the front passenger side, along with blood consistent with the description of the incident by witnesses, the complaint said.

The victim had a crushed pelvis and his heart stopped three times during medical procedures, at the time of the complaint.

One person is dead in Midtown after an argument turned deadly over the weekend.

In a press release, TPD says officers responded to a call in the area of North Contzen Avenue and West Williams Street for reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The caller had told police they believed the incident was an aggravated assault.

When officers arrived on scene they located a male adult victim.

He was transported to the hospital where he eventually passed away.

Officers learned that the suspect lived in the area and had returned to his home.

After a two hour negotiation, officers were able to arrest 53-year-old Eric Schumeister.

In the process of the investigation, police learned that Schumeister and the victim had an argument.

When the victim left, Schumesiter got into his truck, and hit the victim with it.

Schumeister was arrested for 1st degree murder and is being held in the Pima County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
