Woman dies in Long Island restaurant parking lot stabbing

WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Nassau County officials are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened in the parking lot of a restaurant on Long Island early Sunday, police said.

According to detectives, at 12:05 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call for a stabbing in the rear of La Candela Restaurant located at 205 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead.

Upon arrival, officers located a 52-year-old woman who was stabbed multiple times and a 50-year-old man with a cut to his hand.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The woman later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The man was treated and released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
