Culturally, Nike is used to representing people from all backgrounds, so just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, the Swoosh has released something special. The Air Jordan V “El Grito” pays homage to Mexican culture, and after a limited release in Mexico, the clean kicks are coming to the States. Like the Women’s Sunset 5s, the all-white upper is paired with deep red and orange hues on the sole’s teeth design. Lace locks are engraved with the word “viva,” and the embossed upper represents decorative pottery called Talavera. Yes, they initially dropped on September 12, but they’ve been slept on, and the prices on sites like GOAT and StockX are more than reasonable.

Nigo, the name behind Japanese-born streetwear brand A Bathing Ape, is taking his design cues to Oregon juggernaut Nike. The two powerhouses have linked up for a collection that starts with varsity jackets, crewnecks, and t-shirts featuring Nigo’s bolded name atop the swoosh in colors reminiscent of Nigo’s favorite Japanese cartoons. The standout of the collection is the Air Force 3, the often forgotten younger brother of the Air Force 1 and what Nigo calls a “hidden masterpiece.” It’s all good if you’re not feeling any of the current drops because, in the press release, Nike hints that there’s more on the way. But this release hits stores in select stores in Tokyo and New York, with a SNKRS global launch on October 4.

New York native Telfar Clemens broke through the luxury handbag market with an affordable option that quickly rose in the ranks as the must-have bag for any tax bracket. It was so affordable because it was made of vegan leather, had little to no hardware, and the inside was unlined and had little structure. But now he’s created a more formidable option made of real leather, longer straps, and a deeper bag, making what Telfar calls “traditional luxury.” Of course, the price went up –the small is $400, the medium is $600, and the large is $960– but still less than you’d pay for similar bags of the same quality. Be ready to whip out your credit card on Sept. 30, exclusively available at TELFAR’S The Corner Shop at Selfridges.

Off-White X New York Liberty

As the New York Liberty ready themselves for a tense Round 2 against the two-time WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces, they’ll at least be able to do it in style. The Big Apple’s women’s basketball team announced a multi-year partnership with Off-White earlier this week. To kick things off, the team dropped a varsity jacket in team colors of black and seafoam accents with the brand’s infamous construction-inspired logos stitched in. The back features a torch logo and a collegiate Liberty tag while the notches on the sleeve pay homage to founder Virgil Abloh. A few lucky fans can preorder at certain Barclays Center-hosted playoff games. Clothing aside, stay tuned for more activations during Women’s History Month, Black History Month, and Pride.
