Giants should trade former Vols WR Jalin Hyatt if they're not going to use him and one NFL team should have major interest

Earlier this month, multiple reports emerged that stated that former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt said during training camp that the New York Giants should trade him if they're not going to use him.

Hyatt responded to the reports by telling reporters that he never said he wanted to be traded.

Through the first four games of the season, the Giants have barely used Hyatt. The former Vol has just three targets in four games. In Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys, Hyatt played just 13 snaps. He's played just 51 snaps in total this season (which is an average of just over 12 snaps a game).

Maybe Hyatt should've requested a trade.

The Giants traded up in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select Hyatt, which makes it even more perplexing as to why he hasn't seen the field much. Especially since Darius Slayton, the receiver who is getting reps ahead of Hyatt, isn't exactly tearing it up this season (10 receptions for 122 yards in four games).

If New York isn't going to utilize Hyatt, then they should trade him so he can actually have a chance to make an impact in the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs would be wise to have some interest with wide receiver Rashee Rice expected to miss the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. Kansas City also lost wide receiver Hollywood Brown for the year just before the start of the 2024 season.

With their wide receiver group depleted, the Chiefs could use a player like Hyatt. The former Vol can stretch the field if needed (giving Kansas City another deep threat to play alongside rookie Xavier Worthy) and he can play in the slot. Hyatt has great hands and he has excellent tempo in his route running. He seems like the type of player that would thrive in Andy Reid's offense (and playing with Patrick Mahomes would be a dream for any wide receiver in the NFL).

I don't know what it would cost to get Hyatt from New York, but Kansas City should at least check in to see what it would take to acquire the former Biletnikoff Award winner. Hyatt would certainly be better off with the Chiefs than he currently is with the Giants.
