Bears rookie surprisingly enters record books in victory over Rams

The Chicago Bears turned their season around on Sunday with an uplifting victory at Soldier Field over the Los Angeles Rams.

No one was more excited to secure the win than Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who did his part to get Chicago back to .500 on the season.

Williams was 17-for-23 for 157 yards and a touchdown (zero turnovers). He did an excellent job managing a Bears offense that had been more than disappointing through three weeks.

Chicago hosts the 1-3 Carolina Panthers in Week 5 and the 0-4 Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6, giving the Bears a clear opportunity at a 4-2 record heading into their bye week.

Suddenly, things are looking up in Chicago.

Williams not only silenced a ton of critics on Sunday with his winning performance; he also entered his name into the record books in the process.

According to the NFL Communications department, which posted about the Bears’ rookie QB on X, Williams became the first rookie quarterback selected No. 1 overall in the draft to win his first two career starts at home (common-draft era).

The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain noted another impressive statistical milestone reached by Williams on Sunday. According to Fishbain , Williams’s 73.9 completing percentage on Sunday was the third-best by a Bears rookie QB in a game since 1970.

Heading into Sunday, the Bears had their backs against the wall. Their offensive coordinator was on the hot seat, and reviews on Williams were mixed.
