Philadelphia 76ers Fans Won't be Happy with Bold Prediction

Philadelphia 76ers should be delighted with how the 2024 offseason has played out for the Sixers. They brought in Paul George on a four-year, $212 million deal while also agreeing extensions with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

The 76ers have pretty much left no stone unturned. They also added key role players like Caleb Martin and Andre Drummond.

On top of that, the Sixers also showed a willingness to make swift decisions. Signing Guerschon Yabusele after his standout Olympics campaign has to fall under that category. He was not on the radar of many before his performances in Paris.

Yet, despite all this work being put in, it is unclear where the 76ers stand in the East, going into the 2024-25 season.

The Sixers could not have done much more but the East is stacked. The Boston Celtics are the defending champions.

The New York Knicks have gotten even better, having eliminated the 76ers from the playoffs last season in a 4-2 series win. And there are several other teams capable of making deep runs.

In the article '1 Hot Take for Every NBA Team This Season' on Bleacher Report , Eric Pincus predicted that the 76ers will exit the playoffs before the Eastern Conference Finals.

Pincus wrote: "The Philadelphia 76ers will round out the top four in the East with the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers. If healthy, the 76ers have a well-built team.

"Unfortunately, the Sixers are built around two players who have struggled with injuries in recent years (Joel Embiid and Paul George), which won't be as significant an issue in the regular season but will crop up in the playoffs and lead to another playoff exit before the Eastern Conference Finals."

Of course, Embiid's injury history is no secret. But one would think that the 76ers have enough cover next season, in Drummond and Adem Bona, and enough firepower, in George and Maxey, to give the 30-year-old a chance to cut down on his minutes and sit out a few games if required.

As for George, he had fitness troubles in Los Angeles as well but did play 74 games in the 2023-24 regular season. That is a positive sign for the Sixers.
