I was in the backcountry of Montana and had a chance to try this out. Overall I was pleased with the capability and ease of use. However, I’m not sure if it was a limit on the satellite availability for now, but I had to move a lot (point in various directions) a lot in order to keep “pointed at the satellite”. The antenna must be extremely directional versus omnidirectional like the Garmin inReach, which I also use in the backcountry. It was also cool that the recipients of my messages couldn’t tell the difference between regular texts and satellite texts. But using the satellite limits the one using the satellite to 140 character messages.
