California's Snow Summit mountain bike park re-opens after threat from forest fire diminishes.

In the midst of another brutal fire season in North America, some good news for mountain bikers came from the mountains outside of San Bernadino: the U.S. Forest Service has approved a special permit for Snow Summit to reopen the downhill bike park after the threat from the still-burning Line Fire diminished and air quality improved.

While cross country trails at the resort will remain closed for the rest of the summer season, gravity riders with Dual Season Passes, 2024 Bike Park Season Passes, and Quad Packs will have access reinstated.

The resort says that Snow Valley will remain closed in order to continue allowing response teams to use the base area as an operations hub until the fire is fully extinguished. Guests are asked to confirm operating hours and check road conditions before booking or traveling. SR-38 & SR-18 through Running Springs have reopened, but SR-330 remains closed until further notice due to the Line Fire, which has caused significant damage requiring extensive repairs.

Now that’s funny fake news since I live next door to Summit and we are under an evacuation warning at this very moment!
