    It's October! Fall and Halloween events scheduled throughout the month

    CECIL COUNTY — October is here and brings a month full of fall and Halloween fun. Here’s a look at what’s coming this month:

    Let the fun begin!

    The weekend starts with a bowl of hot homemade soup to benefit Wayfarer’s House for women and children. Art Space on Main in Elkton has spent the past year making ceramic bowls for the Empty Bowls fundraiser. Some 600 bowls will be for sale Friday from 4:30 until 8 p.m. Bowls range from $15 to $50. With your purchase choose from the soups made by local restaurants for take out or dine in at 138 West Main St.

    Friday night at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 the Historical Society of Cecil County will present a not so living history with Tales From the Boneyard. Meet famous Cecil Countians now long gone. Get tickets online at https://cecilhistory.org/news-events/events/

    Saturday from noon until 5 p.m. is the Taste of Chesapeake City at the Chesapeake City Volunteer Fire Company, 215 Locke St. on the north side of town. Enjoy food and drink from Chesapeake City area businesses.

    Also on Saturday from noon until 9:30 p.m. is Oktoberfest 2024 at Hopkins Farm Brewery in Havre de Grace. Music by Red Toad Connection and Half Step Down with food trucks, merch releases, stein hoisting and keg throwing. The brewery is at 3833 Rider Lane in Havre de Grace.

    And in Lower Ferry Park in Perryville from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.in the 1st Saturday Farm and Craft Market. The park is located at Broad Street and Roundhouse Drive.

    From 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. is the Upper Chesapeake Bay Pride Festival at Concord Point Lighthouse Park in Havre de Grace, Md. There will be entertainment, exhibits, activities, food, community resources and more.

    Perryville Outreach Program and the Perryville Police Department will host Perryville’s Night Out starring first responders in a free, family-friendly event Oct. 8 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the Community of Perryville Fire Company at 920 Principio Furnace Road. Enjoy music, activities, games, free food and demonstrations.

    Fair Hill Nature Center holds its Fox Trot 5k Run and 1 Mile Walk Oct. 12. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the races kick off at 9. After the race, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. is the Fall Festival at FHNC, 630 Tawes Drive inside the Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area. Enjoy live music, kids activities, food trucks, hayrides and more.

    Appreciation Day is a Halloween Spooktacular event from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Galena Community Park, 105 Sycamore Lane. Enjoy games, inflatables trick or treating, food trucks, a beer garden and more.

    Paddles and Pumpkins is Bay Venture Outfitter’s Halloween event Oct. 12 and 19. There are numerous slots available for you to take a kayak tour and pick a floating pumpkin. Tour slots begin at 10 a.m. Go to https://tinyurl.com/2zvvkdzc to select a tour time.

    Rising Sun’s Fall Spooktacular is Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the center square. There will be lots of games, activities and candy along with a costume contest, vendors and more.

    From noon until 6 p.m. on Oct. 12, Community Connecting Us in Port Deposit welcomes Odd Friends Fest. This is a gathering of the weird and wonderful. You know who you are. “A Truth Seeker’s Daughter” is bringing together all manner of the peculiar and CCU is adding a Halloween theme with witches at Nesbitt Hall, 99 North Main St. and The CCU Community and Wellness Center, across the street at 100 North Main.

    Soda Jerk Ice Cream in the Rising Sun Towne Center hosts its first ever Sock Hop Oct. 12 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. If you know how to dance to the 50’s and 60’s music come out and show your skills. Enjoy root beer floats and other treats.

    Fall Fest is at Hannimal Farm, 2712 East Old Philadelphia Road in Elkton starting at noon Oct. 13. Admission is $5 per person or $15 per family and includes pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, a barrel train and Delaware Cornhole is hosting a cornhole tournament.

    Union Community Church, 440 Union Church Road in Elkton, is holding a Harvest Party Oct. 13 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Come join in a costume contest plus crafts, games, snacks, pumpkin decorating and more. Call or text Emily at 443-907-7684 to reserve your spot. Seating is limited.
