Former Super Bowl QB perfectly describes Saints' painful start to the 2024 season

In 2024, it has been a story of "could be" so far for the New Orleans Saints. You can make a strong argument that they could be 4-0 after four weeks of play. Instead, they sit at .500 with a record of 2-2.

A former Pro Bowl and Super Bowl champ quarterback discussed the frustration around New Orleans' inconsistent start to the season on social media. He made some great points.

Kurt Warner weighs in on Saints' tough losses

No idea how the season plays out but the @Saints have to be sick with the way they have blown games 2 weeks in a row… both have happening due to playing man to man late with the lead & giving up huge plays!!! They should be sitting at 4-0 right now!

Warner is spot on. Allen's late-game decision-making on the defensive side has been questionable. I discussed his choices in Week 3 & 4 after the Saints' loss to the Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

Allen's play-calling over the past couple of games, in crunch time, has been a bit of a head scratcher. This week, he played aggressive man coverage on second and long with just over thirty seconds left for Atlanta.

They just had to get in field goal range to take the lead and the win. That came back to bite him when Falcons WR Darnell Mooney got past Paulson Adebo outside. Adebo committed pass interference and put the ball in Saints territory for ATL...

Last weekend, the Saints HC called man coverage once again on a long third down for Philadelphia.

An unfortunate collision in the secondary affected three Saints defenders and tight end Dallas Goedert picked up a massive gain to set up a go-ahead TD for the Eagles.

Crunch time has not been Allen's friend as a head coach, and that is proving to be even more impactful this season.

New Orleans has had the honor of two blowout wins against the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys. Their other two matchups have come down to the final minute of play, though. In those, they've made critical errors to fall short.

We will see if the two defeats come back to bite them toward the end of the season. The Saints need to bounce back in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
