Community Rallies For Taylor Guyer's Family

Taylor Guyer, 26, of Douglassville, was identified by Delaware State Police as the victim of the fatal crash that happened on Interstate 95 South in New Castle County, Delaware on Sunday, Sept. 22.

Guyer was riding a Honda CBR 1000RR motorcycle on I-95 just north of Basin Road in New Castle when the crash happened, according to police. He had been riding behind a group of fellow motorcyclists and accelerated to keep up with them.

Eventually, he passed the group when the motorcycle's rear tire locked up, causing the bike to skid and fall onto its right side, police said. The motorcycle slid toward the right shoulder of the road. Guyer, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

I-95 South was closed for about five hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the highway, police said. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The Delaware State Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Corporal D. McKenna at 302-365-8486 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333. Information can also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police.

Tylor Guyer's community has been sharing about its sudden loss on social media.

"Becky Whorley tragically lost her son, Taylor Guyer, in a motorcycle accident. He passed away Sunday, Sept. 22," Emma Langen said in a GoFundMe campaign she started on behalf of the family. The campaign raised $6,477 of its $20,000 goal by Monday, Sept. 30.

Guyer was happiest when he was riding motorcycles, according to the GoFundMe campaign. He was known as a smart rider who knew what to do in certain situations and always had advice for new riders.

"I know he’s up there with his lost brothers and doing all the wheelies imaginable," Langen said on the GoFundMe page.

Taylor is survived by his mother, two brothers, cousins, and girlfriend, as written in his obituary posted by Faries Funeral Directors. He was a class of 2016 graduate of Pottsgrove High School.

"Taylor has always been happy and resilient despite any challenges in life," his obituary reads. "He had a love for wheels: motorcycles, trucks, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, semis, and even matchbox cars when he was little. But the louder the better."

A Celebration of Life and memorial ride for Taylor is being held on Saturday, Oct. 5, according to a FaceBook post by family friend Hunter Bentley. The ride begins at 9 a.m. at the Wawa located at 120 Schuylkill Road, Phoenixville, and will end at Norco Fire Company, 144 West Schuylkill Road, Pottstown. The Celebration of Life begins at 10 a.m. at the fire company.
