The Mega Millions site revealed that nearly 400,000 tickets were sold across the U.S. and prizes ranged from two dollars to $20,000. According to the site, the last time the Mega Millions jackpot had gone unclaimed it had reached $810 million before a person from Texas had drawn the lucky ticket.

It was previously reported that one Maryland man managed to boost his already significant win from $10,000 to a staggering $40,000 when he added the Megaplier option to his winning ticket. "I do it all the time. It's more money that you can win," said Tim Todd, 52, regarding the additional $1 charge. According to Todd, he was running errands at the grocery store when he decided to pick up the $15 quick-pick ticket.

According to the electrician, as he was scanning the ticket when the message "Go to Lottery" began flashing. "I said, 'This must be something good." It did indeed turn out to be good. When Todd checked in with the cashier, the man confirmed that he was the older of a $40,000 ticket.

When asked about what he plans to do with his winnings, Todd stated that he plans to use some of the money to clear up some bills but is unsure what to do with the rest of it. “I was happy when I won on the third line,” Todd said with a smile. The winning ticket came from the Dunkirk Wawa on 10245 Kirksville Lane in Calvert County.

Todd also revealed that he has a rather interesting ritual when it comes to purchasing lottery tickets. According to the man, whenever he buys a ticket, he folds it in half and keeps it in his wallet for luck. Despite his wife's urging to just one line per draw, Todd has said that prefers a five-line choice that pays off, as the third line won him the prize.

Another lucky New Jersey resident has yet to claim their $1 billion jackpot prize . According to the state lotto officials, the drawing was made on March 26 and the winning numbers were 7, 11, 22, 29 and 38 with the gold Mega Ball 4.
