Police are continuing their investigation into an altercation turned stabbing that occurred Saturday just before 3:00 pm on Spalding Drive in Beverly Hills.

Beverly Hills Police Department Lieutenant Andrew Myers tells KNX News' Emily Valdez , "[A] preliminary investigation has determined two male adults got into a confrontation. The suspect confronted the victim, who was carrying his child, and a confrontation took place."

According to Lieutenant Myers, the victim and suspect were stabbed during the incident, sending both men to the hospital. The child was unharmed in the altercation.

The father, who is currently not facing any charges, was released from the hospital after receiving treatment, but the suspect has died.

Police say they don't know exactly what the confrontation was about or how it started, and the investigation is ongoing.

A witness, only referred to as Brian, told KCAL News, "I saw someone crossing who was holding a baby, and he seemed to be in a tussle with another person." He said, "The baby had kind of fallen and flipped back."

According to Brian, he attempted to intervene, which pulled the suspect's attention to him, his son, and their dog.

"I told my son to get in the car. I rolled up my window, but I forgot my back window was open," he said. The suspect reached into the window, trying to take Brian's dog. "He finally let go, and then he walked over and banged on the windows of a house on the corner," Brian recalled. "The people inside were terrified, screaming."

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact BHPD.
