The college football season is always full of surprises. Some teams exceed expectations and come out of nowhere, like the 2022 TCU Horned Frogs, who were projected to finish seventh in their conference but ended up playing for a national championship. On the other hand, some teams fail to meet expectations and end up falling flat on their faces.

During Sunday's "The Matt Barrie Show," ESPN sportscaster Matt Barrie asked Paul Finebaum which team has been the biggest disappointment so far this season. Finebaum responded that there is no other choice than the Florida State Seminoles.
"It has to be Florida State," Finebaum said. "I didn't think they'd be great, but 1-4? I mean, Matt, there's no way you can look at a team that starts the season in the top 10 with all of the hype, with all of the blabber coming from last year, and expect them to be where they are."

Finebaum believes the Florida State program has "cratered" this season after achieving its best since 2014, going 13-1 and winning the ACC.

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) has significantly dropped the Seminoles. The Seminoles were once ranked in the top seven but are now ranked No. 63, 10 spots lower than last week. The FPI predicts that Florida State will have a 4-8 season, which will not be enough to qualify for a bowl game.

It's been quite the fall that not even Finebaum saw coming.
