Lorde shocks fans as she deletes everything off Instagram except cryptic post

Lorde surprised and excited her fans when they noticed a new layout to her social media page.

The Royals singer wiped her Instagram page clean on Monday, September 30. She only left one post behind and it raised a few eyebrows.

The Grammy Award winner posted a bunch of photos in a carousel, with the first two photos being selfies of the star sitting in a car. Her right eye was bruised and she didn't seem to have any other injuries.

Lorde's third photo was another selfie, but this time she was outside. Her black eye was still on display.

Besides photos of her black eye, one pic showed her holding a disk that read ProHealth Advanced Imaging, possibly containing imaging of a brain scan. The last photo was of a baseball cap that read: "Do you have the stones?"

"DYHTS? © ĿŁု⑷♶⚤," the caption said. It's unclear what the words and symbols mean, with the capital letters possibly an acronym for an upcoming song, with the question that was written on her hat.

Some shared their confusion in the comments section of the post, but others poked fun at the singer, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor. They made puns based on Lorde's song titles.

"Someone said she got punched for the love club," one fan commented, referencing her 2013 EP. "Did you forget to wait for that green light…?" another asked, alluding to her song Green Light.

Another said: "Girl, so confusing," referencing a Charli XCX song remix Lorde was featured on. She joined Charli on stage in New York last week to sing the song on Charli's headlining tour with Troye Sivan.

Others thought that the bruise meant she was "hinting that she has a ‘hit’ coming," according to one fan. Another fan praised Lorde's marketing tactic for her possible upcoming music.

"Excellent way to re-enter social media," they said. "Lead with the black eye and the enigmatic baseball cap. I like it, Lorde. I like it. Keep these people on their toes.”

The New Zealand-born songwriter last released an album in 2021, titled Solar Power. She's yet to give details about her upcoming fourth album.
