Phillies All-Star projected to get just $6 million in free agency

The Philadelphia Phillies have a chance to do something special this season.

Philadelphia finished the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season with the second-best record in the National League. The Phillies won't have to play in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and will face either the New York Mets or Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Division Series.

The Phillies have a strong chance of making it to the World Series. Philadelphia has talent all throughout the roster. There are some unsurprising stars on the team, like Bryce Harper or Trea Turner, but some others have stepped up. One player who has been a massive bright spot is reliever Jeff Hoffman. He has been a breakout star for the Phillies this season and even earned his first All-Star nod.

Hoffman has been one of the team's most important pitchers and finished the regular season with a 2.17 ERA in 68 appearances to go along with an 89-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 66 1/3 innings pitched.

He has been good enough this season that the Phillies need to do whatever they can to keep him around. Hoffman will be a free agent at the end of the season, but he isn't projected to receive a massive deal. Spotrac is projecting him to get a deal worth just over $6.6 million over two years. That seems like a no-brainer for the Phillies.
