AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Officials with Lake Travis ISD said Tuesday that a student at Bee Cave Middle School has been arrested for posting a school threat to social media last week.

According to a letter sent to parents, the student posted that threat to Snapchat on Friday. District officials were able to identify that student quickly and remove them from campus.

LTISD Police and district officials immediately conducted a threat assessment, and determined that the threat was not credible. That student was arrested Tuesday morning, officials said, facing a charge of making a terroristic threat.

"It brings us no joy to have a student charged with a criminal offense," LTISD superintendent Paul Norton wrote in the letter. "However, school threats carry very real consequences. These actions generate an atmosphere of fear and anxiety, placing a substantial burden on district resources."

The threat is the latest facing several school districts across Central Texas including LTISD; Norton said similar threats against the district's campuses remain under investigation. "Know that school leaders and law enforcement continue to be relentless in their duties," Norton wrote.
