Viral Florida State Practice Video Raises Concerns About Future of College Football

What started as a season full of high hopes for the Florida State Seminoles has devolved into disaster for the ACC program.

Florida State went undefeated through the regular season and notched the program's 16th ACC Championship title in 2023, earning the team a preseason Top 10 ranking heading into 2024.

Head coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles are now 1-4 to start the year.

With this start, it's fair to say FSU is lacking confidence heading into Saturday's matchup against the No. 15 Clemson Tigers. That lack of confidence and passion was seemingly evident during practice on Tuesday.

Norvell's pre-practice footrace tradition certainly didn't pack the same punch as it did during the Seminoles' undefeated 2023 season.

Video of the lackluster race against his Florida State players is going viral on social media.

"Fewer participants in the race than what we’ve become accustomed to. This bums me out," Noles247 insider Brendan Sonnone reported.

This video not only has fans worried about the current state of Florida State's program, but also the future of college football as a whole.

"This is what happens when you’re renting players, not developing and building a culture from ground up year after year. Once the luster wears off, those guys aren’t as invested," one wrote.

"This is why I detest the transfer portal, this team has quit," another said.

"Problem is they are all running to the transfer portal..." another added.

"The money is in their bank accounts. This team is checked out," another wrote.

The new NIL and transfer portal era of college football certainly seems to be resulting in a greater disconnect between programs and their players. And when a team is struggling like Florida State, that disconnect suddenly becomes more apparent.

Florida State will look to stop the bleeding in Saturday's matchup against Dabo Swinney and Clemson.
