Pizza Hut Is Celebrating Its Iconic Book It! Program by Giving Away 1 Million Pizzas

Pizza lovers and bibliophiles rejoice, because Pizza Hut is celebrating its beloved Book It! program in a big way.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the reading program, the pizza chain is giving away one million pizzas, and unlike the original Book It! program, you don’t need to show that you finished reading a book first.

To participate, just use the promo code “BOOKIT40” when ordering from Pizza Hut online or on the app to snag a free 6-inch pizza with any purchase of $8 or more. The deal will last all of October or until one million pizzas are redeemed.

In addition to the free pizza , the chain is also offering a Book It! bundle online and on its app which includes two large, 1-topping pizzas and breadsticks. A portion of the proceeds of each bundle sold goes back into the program.

Fans were pumped about the promotion after the chain announced it on social media, with one person writing "Dreams come true ❤️," and another proclaiming that they "can’t wait to partake 🍕 🍕."

“As we’re celebrating 40 years, we’re excited to invite readers of all ages to rediscover the joy of reading—one book (and pizza) at a time,” said Pizza Hut U.S. president Carl Loredo .

The Book It! program, which was established in 1984, is a reading initiative for students in the United States that rewards young readers with personal pan pizzas.

According to a press release from the chain, From 2013 to 2023, Pizza Hut gave away more than 56 million personal pan pizzas through Book It!, or enough to stretch from coast to coast in the United States twice over. Since its inception, the program has given away an estimated 1.5 billion pies.
