The Dallas Cowboys offense has had issues finding explosive plays through the first month of the season, and with major defensive stars now hurt the franchise has serious cause to make a big move ahead of the NFL's November 5 trade deadline.

Enter star wide receiver Davante Adams , who told the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, October 1, that he prefers to be traded rather than play out the remainder of the year with the team, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network .

The Raiders appear willing to oblige, as they made public a willingness to discuss deals for Adams that include a second-round draft pick and at least one other asset, per Paul Gutierrez of ESPN .

Bill Barnwell of ESPN authored a piece on Tuesday that dove headfirst into the handful of teams he says should make a move for Adams. Among those squads are the Cowboys.

"After signing Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to massive extensions, team owner Jerry Jones has been forced to cry poverty as a justification for not signing Derrick Henry ," Barnwell wrote . "Dallas has started 2-2, but having just lost Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence with injuries, this doesn't feel like a team heading in the right direction."

However, Barnwell added a caveat that Adams' $140 million contract might be too rich for Dallas, while it would also fail to address the team's two greatest weaknesses through four games this season.

"With Lamb, Prescott and Parsons likely to make north of $120 million combined next year once the edge rusher gets his new deal, the Cowboys will already be heavily committed to three star players," Barnwell continued. "This team desperately needs help running the football and stopping the run. Trading for a wide receiver instead would, well, actually would be a very Cowboys move."

If Jones truly couldn't afford Henry, it's unlikely he can financially justify bringing in Adams whose deal runs through 2026. That said, players of Adams' caliber are rarely available by any avenue, and the Cowboys are desperate to win now (or in the coming couple of seasons) based on Jones' age and the money he has spent on the current roster.

Jerry’s full of it! Still the richest franchise in professional sports. He’s just an old fool turning senile and no longer has the capacity to run a professional sports franchise.
