We should end up with around 500 pounds of potatoes from the garden and there have been some big potatoes that weighed over two pounds.”<h2>People are also reading…</h2>In addition to wrapping up her garden, Cyndi has also been busy traveling as the president of the Montana Farm Bureau Federation. She said she has logged in over 6,500 miles visiting the county Farm Bureau organizations during September. At the meetings, members not only hold annual elections, but also discuss items they would like to bring as policy issues to the annual meeting.“The issues in ag hardly change. It’s taxes, water, and property rights,” Cyndi said. “We don’t talk about politics; we talk about the issues and then the solutions our members come up with are brought forward by delegates at the convention. If they pass, they get added to our policy book that informs our lobbyist. If there is an issue that comes up that we don’t have a policy for, we defer to the American Farm Bureau policy.”Proposed policies either advocate for what Farm Bureau members would like the government to do or oppose actions that the government plans to take.With the 2025 legislature set to convene in Helena in January, Farm Bureau members also often mark their calendars to attend the “Calling on the Capitol” event that allows members to visit directly with legislators and their staff.With the weather easing into fall and winter approaching, Cyndi said she expects a “colder, more damp winter” and doesn’t expect to see much moisture until after the first of the year.“I am hoping for a lot of moisture between October and March,” she said.</div></body>
