ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Jefferson County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday they had found the remains of a woman who had been missing since April.

Emily Strite, 34, had been missing from the De Soto area since April 12, but her disappearance was not reported missing until April 20 by her mother.

On Tuesday, Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak confirmed that they found the body of Strite on Sept. 28, after deputies responded to a call to a wooded area near 4100 block of Frissell Road in De Soto to reports of skeletal remains found by the property owner.

Through medical and dental records comparisons, investigators with the Regional Medical Examiner's Office was able to determine that the remains found on the property were of Emily Strite.

At this time, the Sheriff's Office says Strite's cause of death is still undetermined, with investigators working to learn how her body ended up where it was.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at 636-797-5515.
