Saints sweep Scarlets in section quarterfinals

The St. Peter girls tennis team opened postseason play Tuesday evening when the squad welcomed familiar foe Mankato West to the St. Peter H.S. courts. The Saints left nothing to chance in the contest, dropping just seven points combined as they earned a sweep of the Scarlets.

The victory improves the team’s record to 19-1 and sets up another familiar matchup Thursday evening, when St. Peter will host Mankato East in the section 2AA semifinals, beginning at 4 p.m.

Three of the matchups didn’t yield a single point to Mankato West with Annika Southworth in singles No. 1, Kylie Southworth in singles No. 4 and Kady Thoms with Sada Harmes at doubles No. 2 all earning clean sweeps.
