Washington Commanders No. 2 overall draft pick rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is already silencing doubters just four weeks into the NFL season. Coming into the year, much of the hype surrounded Chicago Bears No.1 draft pick quarterback Caleb Williams, expected by many to be the most talented rookie signal-caller since Patrick Mahomes.

Four games in, however, Daniels appears to be the one making headlines with a more impressive performance on both the stat sheet and in wins.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has shown flashes but struggled to find consistency. Through four games, Williams has completed 87 of 141 passes, equating to a 61.7 percent completion rate, with 787 passing yards. He’s thrown three touchdowns to four interceptions while being sacked 16 times, contributing to the Bears' 2-2 record. Williams has added 16 rushes for 79 yards but is yet to score on the ground.

In contrast, Washington’s Jayden Daniels has been much more efficient and dynamic. He has matched Williams’ completions with 87 on just 106 attempts, boasting an 82.1 percent completion rate, for 897 yards, three passing touchdowns, and only one interception, which came in their Week 4 blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals. He’s been sacked nine times but has also rushed for 218 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 46 carries. Daniels’ dual-threat ability has helped the Commanders jump to a 3-1 start, with their only loss coming in Week 1 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As Washington gears up for a Week 5 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, Daniels faces another test against one of the league’s toughest defenses. Despite the challenge posed by Myles Garrett and company, Garrett’s ongoing battle with injuries could provide Daniels the opening he needs to extend the Commanders' winning streak to four and secure their spot atop the NFC East.

Comparing the two rookie quarterbacks, Daniels is emerging as the more consistent and dangerous threat , both in the air and on the ground. All eyes will be on these two as the season progresses, but for now, Washington’s rookie is proving he’s more than capable of leading his team to victory.
