VFW 5352 aids Western NC

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5352 in Kernersville got a jump start on disaster relief efforts for Western North Carolina in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, canteen manager Tami Lowrey said.

“We started on Sunday when we opened at 12:30. We just put the word out, and as they say, if you ask they will come. It is great to see the way the community has come together,” Lowrey said. “A lot of local businesses and individuals have come in and made donations. We had a truck with donations that made it through to Black Mountain on Sunday, and we sent a tractor-trailer full of donations out on Monday.”
