    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
    • 1 large egg yolk, at room temperature
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • Flaky sea salt, for topping

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
    2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then set it aside.
    3. In another bowl, use an electric mixer on medium-high speed to beat the eggs, egg yolk, sugar, and vanilla until the mixture turns frothy.
    4. While that mixes, melt the butter and chocolate chips together in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and mix in the cocoa powder.
    5. Add the melted chocolate to the egg mixture and stir until just combined.
    6. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients, mixing on low speed until everything comes together.
    7. Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets in 1 1/2 tablespoon rounds, spaced about 1 1/2 inches apart.
    8. Lightly sprinkle each cookie with flaky sea salt.
    9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the tops are shiny and crackly but the centers remain soft.
    10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

    Substitutions:

    • Swap out semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark chocolate if you prefer a richer taste.
    • Use coconut oil instead of butter for a slight hint of coconut flavor.
    • For a twist, try adding a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.

    Storage Instructions:

Store your cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze them in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Let them thaw at room temperature before enjoying.
