Cockatoo's Tender Friendship with Black Labrador Sibling Is Giving People the Feels

When it comes to animals who dogs can befriend, I'd probably rank any type of bird all the way at the bottom of my list. Most birds I've met (and by "met," I mean see in my backyard) are a bit skittish when it comes to dogs, flying away as soon as they spot them — and for good reason. After all, many dogs have that hunting instinct, even if they've never had to hunt for their own food before, and they might see much smaller animals like birds as easy prey.

That is simply not the story when it comes to the Labrador and Cockatoo in the TikTok video below, though. After living together in the same house, not only do they seem quite used to each other, but it also seems like they actually missed each other when they had to spend some time apart!

This video from @theparrotlady shows the moment a black Labrador pup and a Cockatoo — who see each other as siblings, no doubt — got to reunite, and OMG, it's simply too sweet.

First of all, this pretty bird, whose name is Sweet Pea, is all excitement as she runs and hops over to Copper, the dog, as soon as she sees him. If she had arms instead of wings and could have hugged him, she totally would have.

It only gets cuter as we see just how gentle Copper is with his sister. He's clearly happy to see her (just look at that tail wagging) but he's being very cautious of her along the way. Eventually, they just end up sitting next to each other, happy to be near their BFFs again. It's all contented silence, minus one very happy chirp from Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea & Cooper's Adorable Friendship

If you were hoping to see more of these two together, I have good news for you: There is more where this came from on their mom's TikTok account.

One of the reasons that Copper and Sweet Pea get along so well is that they grew up together from the time that Copper was a puppy, and in this video , we can see the sweet moments right from the start.

Though their mom did say she was "nervous" when Copper first came home, she quickly found out she had no reason to be.

"As the puppy got older and grew into a dog, I was worried they would grow apart, but they did not," she said. "They copy each other, they still love to run and chase each other."

Sweet Pea and Copper might be different species, but they were clearly meant to find each other. They have such a special bond!
