The top five high schools in New Jersey are the high schools that were ranked in the top 50 of the national list.

Niche says the latest rankings are based on "rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Factors include teacher quality, high school ratings, college readiness, state test scores, and graduation rates (click here for more on methodology).

This year's rankings do not consider SAT/ACT scores "to reflect a general de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process.

The top high school in the country is North Carolina School of Science and Math.
